In Pete Scazzero’s 2003 book, The Emotionally Healthy Church, he writes, “The sad truth is that too little difference exists, in terms of emotional health and relational maturity, between God’s people inside the church and those outside who claim no relationship to Jesus Christ … [in the church] you often find a valley littered by broken and failed relationships.” We’ve settled for a discipleship that allows our emotional health to remain at a level that is not congruent to the kind of life Jesus calls us to. In this series we’ll look at some of the root causes of this as well as some biblically based approaches to a more holistic discipleship that yields God honoring relationships within the church that overflow into our lives outside of it. Join us for the next 6 weeks as we explore becoming a more emotionally healthy church.
